  1. did you ever read “the history of love” by nicole krauss? i think you should. also, if you don’t already know, “a tree grows in brooklyn” is probably one of the best turn of the (20th) century american (women’s) novels ever written. i’ll come up with more when i think about it a little harder;)

  2. This review was posted on Amazon about my memoir by someone I never met:

“I started [CHASED BY DEMONS: How I Survived ...] and could not put it down. It was capturing. I am not an emotional person but I found myself laughing at some points and crying at others. I have not had this experience in a book for a very long time. The author takes you back to the 1930s, she succeeds in getting the reader involved. I hung on every word. I have been recommending this book to everyone I know.”

  3. One of my very favorites is Been in Sorrows Kitchen and Licked Out All the Pots, by Susan Straight. She has other books as well, but this is my favorite.

  4. I’d like to recommend my recent novel, Ghost Orchid, a mystery of love, lies and redemption wrapped in mystical ghost orchid blooming high in the canopy at the edge of the Everglades. It’s a tight novel that seeks to answer the question: Is love eternal? Especially, a mother’s love? Photographers seeking the perfect subject in the perfect light find their past and their destiny: one flower: four destinies. NPR reviews praised the novel for the beauty of the Everglades that shines through on every page; and additional reviews attest to the emotion and turmoil that is a real as the actual ghost orchid that inspired the story. Found at all online sellers in print and ebook. http://www.dkchristi.com Enjoy!

If you have not read the Uglies series by Scott Westerfeld (Uglies, Pretties, Specials, and Extras) i highly recommend them. They are about a girl who lives in the future, she is almost 16 at which time she will get a surgery just like all the other 16 year olds to become pretty. This leads the characters to unimaginable events, the book is like a rollercoaster, the kind where you have to hold on but you dont want to get off in the end. They are the kind of books that keep you reading past bed time, through breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and makes you procrastinate on all other work. I loved these books, some of my all time favorites, i think you will enjoy them too.

  6. Carpe Diem by Autumn Cornwell- it’s hilarious!

  9. The Red Tent by Anita Diamant. This is my favorite book of all time. And I read about 2-3 books a week. I think you will love it!

  10. Solomon’s Oak by Jo-Ann Mapson.

  11. The Hunger Games (trilogy) by Suzanne Collins is excellent. A book you can’t put down. I’m 62 years old and both my husband and I found it extremely entertaining!!

  12. JoAnn

Early Alice Hoffman books, probably published when you were a child are not to be missed. I think they were her best. I especially love TURTLE MOON and SEVENTH HEAVEN.
