This book is akin to the ten-year-old’s version of The Lord of the Rings. Different races of humans, with different languages, all vaguely elvish. Giants, witches, creepy black-smoke devils, long walks through forests trying to find missing things, you know what I mean. My opinion is, as yet, unformed. At certain times I am very hooked, but less so at others. I did manage to miss my train stop yesterday while reading, which hasn’t happened for a while. In itself not great, but maybe that means the book is really good.
Anywhoodles, it’s Teaser Tuesdays (hosted at Should Be Reading).
Plainly the scout’s errand had gone wrong: his buckskin shirt was stiff with drying blood, the broken stump of a javelin was stuck in his side, and his wrists were raw and bloody. He stared at Drallah in wonder, but did not speak. (85) (The Hunt for the Eye of Ogin, Patrick Doud)
What’s your teaser for today? Leave your comments here and at Should Be Reading.

This TOTALLY sounds like something I would read. I haven’t read a good fantasy in a while either, so I’m looking forward to seeing how you feel when you finish it. Always a good sign when you miss your subway stop!
My Teaser Tuesday is a bit less exciting, but you can check it out over at bookwanderer
How violent! ;-0 Looks like an interesting book.
You like your books with a bit of blood and gore, don’t you (lol)? I haven’t heard of that one before.
Here is mine: http://boofsbookshelf.com/tag/teaser-tusedays/
It sounds as though it went rather badly indeed. Great teaser, it left me wanting to know more about the book.
Wow! Vivid depiction!
Mine is here:

Oh man! That one jerked me awake.
Drallah should watch out. Usually when someone is beat bad, they come out fighting. Great tease.
Thanks for sharing your teaser and your thoughts! Will look forward to your final review.
Definitely a mission gone awry! Missing (or nearly missing) a train or bus stop is usually a very good sign in a book. Almost did that myself a couple weeks ago, lol. Thanks for visiting!
Great teaser! This seems like my kind of book
so I added it on my list!
I hope you’re enjoying it… Here’s mine: http://my-book-obsession.blogspot.com/2010/02/teaser-tuesdays-5.html
Wow I’d say his errand had gone wrong! Great teaser!

Wow! what could have happened to him? Great teaser!
BTW thanks for dropping by mine!
Oh dear…
The last time I saw someone all but miss their stop they were reading a copy of Northanger Abbey, a recent reprint with a cover which had been criticised as being ‘too chicklitty’ and dumbing down the book:

My teaser is here:

Oh dear me, doesn’t sound like my kind of reading, nevertheless, I hope you are enjoying it. I am more of a Cinderella kind of girl. ; ) all fun and no blood.
Thanks for stopping by and leaving me such a nice comment.
Sounds interesting!
I can imagine your ambivalence. After so many years of fantasies, I often look at some of the newer ones and think, “Again??” It takes a talented writer not to be rehashing what’s been done before a few hundred times.
Good luck deciding what you think of the book!
Meanwhile, my own teaser is at Bookishgal.
Very nice. If it’s anything like LotR, I’ll have to check it out!
An everyday situation when you’re a hero then?
Great teaser! I love your upcoming reading list too… will definitely keep tuning in for the reviews. Meanwhile, here is my teaser from Drood by Dan Simmons: http://thelitwitch.com/2010/02/09/teaser-tuesday/
Geez, he sounds like a mess! I like these kind of books but I dont nread them as often as I would like I have to admit.
Wow! I was getting sleepy ’til I read your teaser!
Wow, sort of gory, but interesting at the same time!

oh my..that hurts! is this book part of a series?
Interesting! I love your description of the book. I can’t wait to see what you think about it when you’re finished.
Thanks for stopping by mine.
Interesting teaser. I’ve pretty much moved away from reading high fantasy like that.
mmmmm… not my cup of tea but good teaser.
Sounds like a great book. I like fantasy type books
And thanks for stopping by my blog/post
I can see the scout in my mind’s eye. Great teaser. Are you finding the book to be a bit childish?
thanks for stopping by my place.
Jacinta
Wow! Great teaser. Thanks for the comment on mine!
Sounds like it could be an interesting read but I am partial to the Lord of the Rings. Hopefully it won’t disappoint in the end. Good teaser!
Yeah, that doesn’t sound like things went well. Great teaser!
wow…a violent teaser!! I like your teaser tho I’m not sure if I want to read the book, you did say it sounds like TLOTR

Great teaser! Haven’t heard of the book, but I’ll have to check it out.
Sounds adventurous. Thanks for the teaser.
Wow, what a teaser! I haven’t heard of this book before but I’ll be looking for it. My nephews would probably like it too. Hope you enjoy it!
